Had a great time at Funan’s PLAY event today.
Getting to strut my stuff on stage was definitely cool. It was really fun hamming it up as Darth Crimson, the biggest, baddest Sith Lord this side of Singapore, and just going at it with lightsabers.
Helped that I beat the crap out of my partner on stage, and to top it off, I got to “Force Choke” the dude. That’s almost as bad ass as actually casting a lightning bolt on stage (and having the stage go dark, and the stage hands flicking the lights on and off while flashing a forked shadow on the backdrop).
And while we’re talking about stage acting and performances, here’s a little shout out for a workshop I’ll be conducting over the next couple weeks.
It’s called the Cosplayers’ Roleplaying Workshop, and it’s designed to help level up everyone’s cosplay performances.
We’ll be touching on stage essentials such as voice acting, presence, characterization, and acting techniques – all important skills that will put cosplayers old and new in good stead when it’s time to dazzle the stage.
Workshop sessions are scheduled on Sundays (with the first on April 17th), from 2 pm to 4 pm at SCAPE, in GRID MMS.
Places are limited, so if you’re interested, make sure you sign up if you’re keen.
I’ll be hitting Funan again tomorrow for the Cosplay Engage competition, so if you’re in the area, be sure to come say hi! This Warlock’s gonna be making the rounds. XD
Also, here’s a couple pics from the event, thanks to Sonia Soh, one of our Fightsaber peeps. She’s also a kickass photog, so be sure to check out her site sometime. XD I’d also like to thank Yan Sin for the headshot. XD
